Welcome Back to Naval Point in 2024
Happy New Year to all of our members and welcome back to 2024.
Firstly I would like to celebrate all our members who have had what sounds like a busy but fun and successful time at multiple regattas.
Over the past weekend, NPCL hosted the Lyttleton portion of the Zephyr Canterbury champs. Saturday threw some unsailable conditions but Sunday was great! well done to all. Results can be found here
Many of our junior members could be found competing over at SIAG in Charteris Bay, Massive congratulations to Samson Nuttal for winning the green fleet and battling Saturday's tough conditions. William Keer 4th, Jack Doig 5th, and Elsie Bedford 6th also gave their first big green fleet regatta a crack. Kieran Ivory, made the brave jump into Optimist Open fleet for the weekend, with a very commendable 9th. Epic job team! keep up the hard work and stop, interislander Regatta in Picton!
Over to the trailer yachts, Naval Point had 7 Elliott 5.9's travel to Nelson over the weekend for their South Island champs held in conjunction with the Nelson Regatta. Shane Smith with ‘boat one’ took a very clear win. Amanda Norris and ‘Rapido’ took 3rd closely followed by Seamus Tredinnick with ‘Magpie’ 4th, Andrew McFarlane ‘Retro’ 5th, Gary Dixon with ‘Erotic’ in 6th, Tom Hayes with ‘Spurt' in 7th and Glen Hoban Watson with ‘Chop’ in 8th
Making our way further North to the ILCA (Laser) National Champs. Well done to Gabby Kenton-Smith for her 27th overall and 6th Woman in the ILCA 6 and Anna Martin with her 31st Overall and 7th Woman.
It's great to see so many of our NPCL sailors back traveling regattas, if you have any regatta stories or blurbs to share with us, we would love to share them.
